Burnout14 April- 29 April 2018Wish You Were Here Gallery The works in Burnout aren’t depressing; at least I don’t think so. Using imagery of flat suburban landscapes in conjunction with semi-diaristic text, I tried to address the emptiness I felt after finishing my PhD. I approached this project with an attempt at ironic detachment, trying to analyse my feelings of listlessness, even as I was caught in the throes of them. Irony, I thought, might simultaneously conceal and reveal the underlying situation. The underlying situation being that I was a bit sad. |
